Hey guys
Quick question, I am getting quite annoyed having my phone constantly hooked up for charging...  I found this extended oem battery on amazon for like 40 bucks wondering if its worth it. I need longer
battery life.
Pls respond about to pull the trigger without knowing the quality of this battery.
Thanks v1ral

Which version is it, the VZW/HTC 2150 mAh extended battery, or the Seidio 1750 or 3500 mAh version?  I have the VZW/HTC 2150 mAh model.  No problems at all.  Also, are you a poweruser or just someone who uses the phone and some texting (gaming, etc.)?

I pretty much use it a lot for browsing txting and everything else. Is that being a power user... i guess I use it the way I use my pc...tinkering as much as I can...
I am using the virtuous Rom with hydraulic kernel gonna see how it goes for now without a charge will report back.
Thanks

Definitely look forward to your results.  I've rocked Adrynalyne's V3/V4 kernel and King Kernels #5 (SkyRaider Sense 3.3), but presently am using the 2.6.32.17 HTC leaked kernel in Nils' Business Sense Ver. 3.  Battery life is quite good with this kernel. (even as I use an extended battery), with minimal drain.

Well guys battery life with that rom/kernel combo wasn't to great..
It's like for which ever rom or kernel I use it just sucks battery..
oh yeah the report..
I wokr up at 530 am.. about 8am battery was like around 64%...around 12...43% and so on..
How do I remedy this situation..and how is everyone getting great battery life.. with out using extended battery.
If this is the only way to go.. ima be spend about 180bucks on an extended battery and an sd card...

v1ral..

Are you rooted?

Which ROM are you running?

The best way to get good battery life is with a custom ROM and kernel combo.

to add to my other post..
I am was using nice guy 6 from RM..
Tried virtuous..couldn't get the theme thing to work.. reverted back to stock...
then tried..different ones in RM...
I have only used hydra kernels and can only use those to boot or I can't even post in the phone itself..
Most if not all undervolted kernels won't boot correctly..ie sd error reporting stays on for the longest time..
have to get into recovery and flash hydra's kernel I believe it's either 2 or 4.
that's all I can remember.
I have the last stable Rom saved so I can always revert....
any suggestions..

I had recently posted a bad reply about the 3500 mah battery I purchased from e-bay but after using it and charging correctly if you don't mind the extra size it has been the best investment so far the cost was abround $10.00 sounds insane I know but it came from chin so far it has been a blessing in disguise love it.  If you need more info contact me for more information.

Is that the Seidio 3500 mAh battery?  All I can tell you is from personal experience.  I've been rooted about a couple of months, and like Nils said earlier in this thread, the combination of rooting and a good ROM/kernal combination definitely helps.  I'm running Business Sense Ver. 3, with the HTC 2150 mAh battery.  At 2:25pm, I was fully charged (running 3G, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi...texting to boot).  At this time (12:25am), I am at 72%.  Now there are variables (no GPS running--why run it if you don't need it?), but this is far more than enough for my tastes.   And I'm not running profiles in SetCPU (for rooted phones), so basically it goes back to the right mix of rooted ROM/kernel.  Experiment and find out what works, but definitely remember to nandroid backup first  Cool

Hmm interesting well I am virtuous Rom with kingz kernel number 5. I've tried different kernels and a few only get me safely booted in the phone so I have this on so far as booting is concerned it works however battery drain is there. I've tried using the alt virtuous kernel..it boots however its not as snappy as I'd like
Although ill be testing as days go by but I am almost certain of upgrading the battery.
Sorta sucks cause they can go quite a bit.
Anyways, this Rom is pretty good I've tried some others like skyraider, the new guy six ect..I like the new guy but Idk.something about it the turns me off at times, then there is Sr which is nice bit sometimes it doesn't work right when I try different kernels.
Well hopefully I find a good combo soon cause rooting first of all was for better battery life and I don't see mucj of an improvement over un rooted.

Don't give up yet.  I ran SR 3.3.3 (liked it....a good ROM, but it was having 3G problems, and not everywhere has good Wi-Fi, so a bad 3G problem could leave you stuck out there).  I switched to Business Sense with the 2.6.32.17 kernel, and I have no problems at all.  The one good thing about being rooted is that you can experiment with different ROM/kernel combos, but how long are you trying the combos out (say, 2-3 days or so)?  Ultimately, pick a ROM you like and a kernel you like, and rock with it for a few days.  The good ROM developers are good at responding to questions you might have about battery drain, ROM/kernel combinations, etc.

I may give SR another go later..
I don't know what it is though with VR it'll work for me for a few days and when I try to do something different it goes finicky. I absolutely can't use hydra kernels... I can use either kingz 2,4,5 but 5 drains faster 2 has higher quadrant scores etc..
I actually only have one this install when I flash VR.. and it's the colorful icon thing for the top area.. I liked a bit of color.. haha...
The more I try different roms and other doodads I always seem to go back to my original rom.
I sorta wish that we can mix match stuff..well we can.. but for more of a.. I don't know how to explain..
Anyways. I used VR today with kings 2 and batter drain was steady.. but this is with a very light use..eg. only txts occasional screen on just to read those txts. woke up 9am unplugged by 1 it was 4x percent I think that is quite a big drain..
I may have to get a battery.. the batter I want is out of stock.. hope it goes back haha.
Anyways.
I am gonna try SR again and see what's up with it.

Okay guys..
I am trying out a different rom..
Myn's warm2point2, and I am having great results.
With a little tweaking with setcpu and the kingz 4 kernel I have had a whole day without charging at all.
had a full 8 hour work day and it went down to like 48~51 ish battery life, which is a great improvement over 3~4 hour drain to 25ish percent battery.
Anyways.
I got a slight gripe about it is having 3g show up and stuff.
I have it set up with wifi connected when I am at work as well as when I am home..
I would disable wifi and it won't connect with the 3g side of things.
I haven't read through the many threads on myn's rom *too many, so I will read up on it, I will though.
I really like this rom.
Looks and feels good...has enough of blacks and other colors to match it as well.
Anyways..
back to reading haha.
